In Afghanistan, over the past year, life has been tougher than they’ve ever known. With the economic crisis, Najib lost his job because his boss couldn’t afford to pay him. Safaa has seen the prices of rice and flour shoot up. Even cooking oil has become more expensive. The Ahmadis can no longer support themselves… and so they are selling their belongings to make some cash. Mansour can’t go to school. He has to work. Together, the Ahmadis often have just enough to share a loaf of bread in the evening. Their stomachs often rumble with hunger as they go to sleep. As the nights get colder and winter draws in, they worry they will get sick. There’s no money for heating. How will they survive the winter?
Nearly half the population in Afghanistan doesn’t eat even one proper meal a day. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) conitues, more than ever, to support Afghans.
En Afganistán, durante el último año, la vida ha sido más dura de lo que nunca habían conocido. Con la crisis económica, Najib perdió su trabajo porque su jefe no podía pagarle. Safaa ha visto cómo se disparaban los precios del arroz y la harina. Incluso el aceite de cocina se ha encarecido. Los ahmadíes ya no pueden mantenerse a sí mismos... y por eso están vendiendo sus pertenencias para ganar algo de dinero. Mansour no puede ir a la escuela. Tiene que trabajar.
