Description : How to correctly treat prisoners of war? What are the rules for their maintenance? What are the challenges of the penitentiary system when working with detainees in relation to a conflict? All these issues were discussed by participants of the conference organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for penitentiary institutions staff in Ukraine. During two days, the participants listened to lectures and participated in practical sessions related to various aspects of the internment of prisoners of war, the organization of their life, ensuring their rights, and studying medical probles that arise in place of detention. The conference's purpose was to share the practical experience gained by the participants since the beginning of the international armed conflict in Ukraine to delevop practical skills that will be applied in daily work so that the internment of prisoners of war complies with all norms of international humanitarian law..
