Description :
In Kenya, there are numerous stories of struggle and resilience amid the drought that is currently affecting over 6 million residents in 32 counties. Student attendance in schools is drastically reducing. Over 2.6 million livestock death reported.
The Kenya Red Cross and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) launched an emergency response reaching over 100,000 people from the counties of Garissa, Wajir, Mandera and Lamu with various humanitarian assistance comprising of food assistance, cash support as well as feeds, drugs and vaccination for the livestock.
In 2023, the Kenya Red Cross and the ICRC are determined to ramp up their efforts to tackle the dire consequences of drought and conflict in the border region, with a goal to sustain and even amplify their humanitarian response.
