Over the past year the sound of air raid sirens have become part of daily life for people affected by the Russia Ukraine armed conflict. Hospitals and other critical infrastructure have been damaged or destroyed. As frontlines shift, more civilians are subjected to the horrors of violence with lives lost and families torn apart. And millions have been forced to flee.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works in hard to reach places to support people facing the direct effects of the armed conflict. In and outside Ukraine volunteers from national Red Cross societies are helping people rebuild their lives.
The commitment of ICRC teams and their Movement partners has made the seemingly impossible possible. There is still so much to do and they will continue to work around the clock until long after the last air raid siren falls silent.
