In May 26th, 2018 Kyiv, Ukraine, hosted the Champions League final. But that wasn’t the only big game that day.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) took ten children hurt by mines or other weapons from Donbas to Kyiv.
They played their own game of football. With a very special player – Spanish football star Gaizka Mendieta.
The laws of war ban the use of landmines.
The ICRC is working to make sure that everyone is aware of the risks of mines and other explosives and that the parties to the conflict in Eastern Ukraine follow the rules of armed conflict.
