Description :
Marie Mapendo is a mother and a sister born in Goma. The conflict in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DCR) forced her to flee her home and find refuge in South Africa in 2009. This resulted in her losing contact with her family.
The Red Cross assisted Marieby tracing her sister through the "Tracing the face" mobile app. Thanks to this, she go to speak with her sister for the first time in twenty-six years.
From January to November 2022, the International Committee of the Red CRoss (ICRC), in collaboration with the Red Cross societies in South Africa, have facilitated 17,610 successful phone call.
