Description :
On June 7th, 2023, more than 300 children from Khartoum orphanage have been evacuated to a safer location. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) teams heped transport the children aged between one month to fifteen years, and their caregivers.
Since fighting broke out in Sudan on April 15th, civilians have been killed, wounded and trapped by ongoing fighting.
The orphanage was located just 800 meters from the frontines. Some of the children suffer from mental health conditions that could be exacerbated by the stressful conflict situation they were living through.
As a neutral intermediary we secured safe passage for the children and orphanage staff.
