Throughout their journey, migrants find themselves in a situation of extreme vulnerability and have to face multiple dangers. Most of the time deprived of essential services and cut off from the support of their loved ones, they live in fear, at the mercy of smugglers and exposed to the rigours of a hostile climate. They need protection and humanitarian assistance.Every year, hundreds of thousands of people leave their homes in search of a better life. Many are injured or killed. While many more go missing. The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is helping to bring answers to the families on the fate of their missing loved ones, and provide support to help them through psychological, socio-economic or legal problems.
