Description :
Held on the 30th of August 2023, the International Day of the Disappeared gives us the opportunity to observe and recognize the number of people who have gone missing through conflict, migration and natural disasters, and to show solidarity towards all who have been affected. Since 2012, the ICRC has been in contact with the families of missing persons to involve them in the process of gathering information about their missing loved ones. This includes collecting DNA samples that will be used in the process of identifying the remains, or individuals and determining their fate.
