Description :
In 2022, the ICRC noted a worsening of the food crisis in Niger in the regions of Tillabéry, Diffa, Tahoua and Agadez. This is essentially the result of the double hardship suffered for years by resident, displaced and refugee populations, due to both armed conflict and climate change. Among the ICRC's operations in the first half of 2022, here are a few figures that give an idea of the humanitarian stakes in Niger today. In response to the food crisis, the ICRC distributed food to some 171,871 people. This assistance per household consists of 75 kg of millet, 25 kg of rice, 50 kg of cowpea, 20 liters of oil and 2 kg of salt to cover one and a half months' subsistence. At the same time, the ICRC delivered over 45 tonnes of millet to 25 cereal banks.
