Description : Testimony of Françoise Favira, displaced person from Nyanhzale to Kanyabayonga.
Few hundreds of families settled in Kanyabayonga, Lubero territory, northern North Kivu province, between January and March 2024, after fleeing armed violence in the Rutshuru, Masisi and Walikale territories, in the south of the province. Living with host families or in displacement sites and collective assembly centers, their living conditions are difficult, with priority needs including food, access to water and healthcare. In April 2024, the ICRC installed a 10 m³ water tank and standpipes in the Kimina district to facilitate access to drinking water for 1,848 displaced people and members of host families.
