Description : The video "Shattered Lives" presents in five minutes an easily accessible overview of the devastating impact of anti-personnel landmines. Using a catchy tune, powerful lyrics and hard-hitting photographs, it illustrates the result of the use of these indiscriminate weapons in countries such as Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia and Mozambique. The song was written and composed in 1995 by Bernard Carney, an Australian artist. Most of the images used are those of Australian freelance photographer John Rodsted, who has travelled extensively in mine-affected countries. Additional photos were supplied by the International Committee of the Red Cross' (ICRC) photo library.
