Description :
Inaugurating the second season of ‘It's More Than You See’, the first episode features Daniel* and his mother talking about how they coped after Daniel was shot as a child while sleeping in his own home. From that moment on, his life changed: he was unable to go to school, stayed cooped up at home and had to overcome physical and mental health problems, which had repercussions for the whole family.
The ICRC's work in the field of mental health and psychosocial support helped Daniel and his family. He has benefited from the support of a psychologist and educational activities, which have enabled him to return to school and see his friends.
*Some names have been changed to protect the anonymity of the testimonies.
**Elvis Posada Quiroga, who took part in this episode, is an ICRC adviser until April 2023.
The second season of the online series ‘It's more than you see’ was produced by the International Committee of the Red Cross. The 5 episodes illustrate the ‘invisible’ effects of armed violence in Brazil on the civilian population.
