Description :
Flavien Mapendo, an internally displaced person living with a disability, received help to improve his mobility after joining the ICRC's physical rehabilitation programme in Bukavu, South Kivu province, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This health aid was followed by financial assistance to strengthen his economic resilience. A shoemaker by trade, Flavien now runs a shoe-making workshop and is involved in training young people in his community.
