Description :
W Biit: A Symphony of Memory and Hope W Biit was more than a socio-cultural event; it was a heartfelt tribute to the International Day of the Disappeared on August 30th. The event’s identity was symbolized by the fingerprint—a unique mark representing the legacy we leave behind. Attendees were invited to engage deeply, contributing to a collective "tree of life" as a symbol of commitment to this important cause. The event began with a poignant poetry segment inspired by the ICRC's book “Elt Bekteblak – ??? ??????“, featuring letters from families of the missing. It also showcased the exhibition "Empty Chairs, Waiting Families," where symbolic chairs painted by families expressed memories of their missing loved ones. This project, a collaboration between the ICRC in Lebanon, ACT for the Disappeared, and Artichoke Studio, gave voice to both grief and hope. Inspirational talks were delivered by key partners, including the Committee of the Families of the Kidnapped and Disappeared in Lebanon, the National Commission, and the ICRC, highlighting the resilience of those left behind. The evening featured the premiere of “W Biit – ????? ” by Jamale Abou Hamad, a song dedicated to the ICRC that captured the emotional journey of a wife waiting for her missing husband. Through its nostalgic lyrics, the song offered comfort and hope to the families of the missing. The event brought together families, national committees, authorities, ambassadors, humanitarian workers, academics, and media representatives, fostering connections and raising awareness of the cause. W Biit concluded with a meet-and-greet reception, reinforcing our collective commitment to keeping the memory of the missing alive through art and dialogue.
