Description :
In the DRC, sexual violence affects women, children and men alike. The result of a prolonged crisis, this scourge ravages countless human lives. Sifa* and Tresor* (*alternate names) are among those fighting not to end their lives. The trauma of rape and torture haunts their minds and their daily lives. These invisible wounds, which are sometimes neglected, can have dramatic consequences that are difficult to overcome if left untreated.
In the first half of 2024, 1,709 people received psychological and psychosocial support in the 5 listening centres supported by the ICRC in North Kivu, 3 of which belong to the DRC Red Cross.
