Description :
Displaced people affected by armed conflicts face many obstacles in new locations. Some families experience repeated relocations, limiting their opportunities for work and income. As a sustainable solution, the ICRC team in Mandalay designed a livelihood program to support displaced families from central Myanmar. A chicken farm established by Ko Tin Tun and three families is one example of this. “We currently have 100 eggs, 15 chickens, and 15 broody hens,” said Ko Tin Tun. “We had some difficulties at first as it was hot season. I take care of them every day to reach our aim. We don’t sell anything from our farm to ensure its progress. In the near future, I believe our farm will be successful,” he added. These small-scale livelihood activities, including vegetable gardening and poultry production, have engaged about 25 people from 5 households, providing the community with a sustainable path forward.
