Description :
The resurgence of armed conflict since October 2023 has led to a complex and unprecedented humanitarian crisis. The latest escalation, which began at the end of December 2024 in Goma and continued in February in Bukavu, is characterized by unusually violent fighting that has caused unbearable suffering for thousands of people, who are in urgent need of vital aid.
ICRC surgical teams treated around thirty wounded between 14 and 17 February at the Bukavu Provincial General Reference Hospital, which the ICRC has been supporting for more than a decade. The ICRC also took in several unaccompanied children and began work on the management of mortal remains in support of the DRC Red Cross.
