Om Mohammed left Syria with her family, fleeing the conflict to Jordan, thinking the separation with her family would be temporary. But she had no idea the days would stretch on—until the absence became eleven years long. Om Mohammed lost her mother, her father, and her closest sister. She still hasn’t returned to Syria—
but she carries the memory of her home with her wherever she goes.
