Description :
The ICRC's director of operations, Yasmine Praz Dessimoz, describes what she saw when she visited the epicenter of the earthquake two weeks after it struck. A large number of homes have been destroyed, and the inhabitants - women, men and children - are living in makeshift shelters and queuing for food. But small businesses have already reopened and life has returned to normal.
“I'm here for a short visit and to support the ICRC and Myanmar Red Cross teams in their daily work,” she concludes.
