Description : Rival Kurdish factions in northern Iraq have been fighting among themselves for several years. Thousands of people displaced by the clashes have taken refuge in ruined or abandoned buildings and are living in particularly precarious conditions.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has installed a new water pump at the pumping station near Sulaimaniyah so as to provide around 100,000 people with drinking water during the hot season. Several times a week, an ICRC vehicle takes disabled people from the Sulaimaniyah area to the prosthetic/orthotic centre at Arbil, which has been completely refurbished by the ICRC.
