Description :
Ehouman Emmanuel, ICRC hospital project manager, explains that since mid-January 2025, armed conflict in North Kivu has spread to South Kivu.
Many people, including civilians, have been injured.
In collaboration with the DRC Red Cross, the ICRC is transferring some of these wounded for appropriate treatment to 4 hospitals in these provinces, where it is developing surgical programmes.
Under international humanitarian law, all the wounded and sick, regardless of the party to which they are linked, must be respected and protected. They must receive the medical care their condition requires as quickly as possible, without any distinction between military or civilian, ally or enemy.
