Description :
Dr. Gedo Musa Ibrahim, the medical manager of Tawila Hospital, explains: "We receive around 150 patients every day. They come with different kinds of injuries. Some are victims of shelling, while others are suffering from direct gunshot wounds. The numbers went down a bit in September. But this month, October, it’s different — most of the patients are coming from Al Fasher. We face many challenges, such as the lack of surgical equipment. We also don’t have sterilizers. Until recently, we didn’t even have proper dressing materials. We used to cut any piece of cloth we could find, wash it with water, and use it to cover wounds. Since the conflict started in Al Fasher and Zamzam, we haven’t received any assistance except from the ICRC. They provide us with medicines and other medical supplies. We receive these supplies from the ICRC at the beginning of each month. I just want to say — there are many health workers out there, even in larger hospitals with far more resources, who don’t see the number of patients you treat every day, or make the kind of impact you’re making with so little. Even though we’re meeting for the first time today, I’ve heard your name many times before — people often talk about the incredible work you’re doing here. So I just want to say thank you — for everything you do. Thank you. We really appreciate it."
