Description :
For over ten years, a video has been circulating online showing metal boxes allegedly stamped with the ICRC logo and filled with cash. This video, often adapted to different contexts and locations—Russia, Yemen, Colombia—continues to spread a false message: that the ICRC is transporting crates of money for unclear purposes.
This claim is entirely false.
A detailed analysis of the video has uncovered several inconsistencies. The logo visible on the boxes is fake. It does not align with the ICRC’s official visual identity: the font, dimensions, and proportions between the initials and the circular emblem are incorrect. Furthermore, the logo does not adhere to the ICRC’s branding standards, particularly the required clear space around the emblem.
While the reasons behind the creation of this video remain unclear, its consequences are evident: spreading false information directly harms vulnerable communities by jeopardizing the essential humanitarian aid they rely on.
The ICRC is a neutral and impartial humanitarian organization. Boxes bearing its logo contain only essential items: food, medicine, and other vital supplies. These resources are transported across frontlines and checkpoints to reach communities affected by conflict and violence. Nothing else is inside.
For accurate information about the ICRC’s activities, it is recommended to visit its official channels: social media, website, or community contact centers.
