Description :
Clashes between rebels and government troops in south-western Uganda have caused several thousand people to flee their homes. Some of the displaced have gathered on the outskirts of lowland villages while others have settled in an old mining town. During lulls in the fighting, some people go back to their homes to collect their belongings. The displaced, unable to work in their own fields, subsist as best they can on relief supplies distributed by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and by farming a few plots provided by the authorities.
