Description : The development of the Law Of Armed Conflict (LOAC) is inseparable from the whole history of war in the 20th century. Fighting by the Rules uses a wealth of historical fact to illustrate this relationship. It shows the bad side of war, but also demonstrates that LOAC is wholly compatible with the principle of military necessity. Fighting by the Rules is aimed primarily at military audiences. It convincingly argues how crucial it is for officers to incorporate the fundamental principles of LOAC into procedures and training pro-grammes in armed forces everywhere.
