Description :
After a war as fierce and bloody as that which raged in Liberia between 1990 and
1997, it is not easy for the country’s inhabitants to resume a normal life. During the fighting protection and relief had to be provided, now society as a whole must learn to respect international humanitarian law and human values again. With this in mind, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has organized seminars for instructors working in the Liberian armed forces, police and security services. In addition, the Belgian Red Cross has opened around 10 vocational training centres across the country. These centres are attended both by former fighters and by young people who received no schooling throughout the war period.
