Description :
The beautiful landscape, the traffic jams in the towns and the quietness of the monks do not let us forget the horrific three decades civil war in Cambodia. Once a week, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) sends a roving workshop to different parts of the country in order to avoid the amputees having to travel sometimes for days to reach the rehabilitation centre of Battambang. Today, the ICRC is installing its repair shop in the compound of the Pagoda in Khnach Romeas, about 50 km north of Battambang. As some people are installing the material, others are meeting the amputees who need some reajustment on their prothesis. The Swiss orthopedist Eduard Von Allmen is taking care of one of the patients. Most of the repairs can be made on the spot, but for some more complicated interventions the person will have to go to Battambang.
