Description :
During his visit, Prince Faisal was received by Olivier Vodoz, vice-president of the ICRC, and several other representatives of the organization. "Cooperation with the SRCS is fruitful and we are looking forward to further increasing it," said Mr Vodoz.
The talks focused mainly on how cooperation and partnership between the ICRC and the SRCS could be strengthened, especially in the areas of international emergency relief operations, tracing activities and the dissemination of international humanitarian law within universities and the armed forces.
Prince Faisal and Jean de Courten, ICRC Assembly member and chairman of the ICRC Special Fund for the Disabled, signed a memorandum of understanding under which the SCRS will provide support for the Special Fund.
"Our main goal is to establish a stable and lasting operational relationship with the Saudi Red Crescent Society," said Jean-Michel Monod, head of the ICRC regional delegation in Kuwait. "We would like to work closely on rapid deployment operations benefiting from the know-how and specific capacities of our partners."
Both sides emphasized the need to develop joint activities to better respond to the increased needs of conflict victims in the region and worldwide.
