Zimbabwe : fourniture de médicaments essentiels et d’au potable à des centres de santé ruraux
La population du Zimbabwe se trouve dans une phase économique extrêmement difficile, caractérisée par le taux d’inflation le plus élevé du monde ; cette situation augmente la pression sur le système de santé du pays, qui est déjà affaibli. Le CICR apporte son soutien à 16 centres de santé ruraux dans trois districts.
Dans 9 des 16 structures sanitaires qu’il soutient dans les zones rurales du Zimbabwe, le CICR a soit creusé des forages et les a équipés de pompes manuelles, soit réhabilité des sources existantes pour offrir un meilleur accès à l’eau potable aux villageois, aux dispensaires et aux écoles. Dans les trois districts, l’institution collabore sur le terrain avec le Fonds de développement des districts (DDF), pour s'assurer que ces installations d'approvisionnement en eau et d'assainissement fonctionnent. Le CICR donne des pièces détachées au DDF et lui transmet le savoir-faire technique nécessaire à l’entretien des pompes. En 2007, plus de 300 pompes manuelles ont été réparées ou remise en état dans la campagne du Zimbabwe grâce à l'aide du CICR.

Zimbabwe: providing vital drugs and safe water to rural health centres
Zimbabweans are facing extremely hard economic times resulting in the highest inflation rate in the world, a situation which is putting added pressure on the country's already weakened healthcare system. The ICRC is supporting 16 rural health structures in three districts.
At 9 of the 16 health structures that are supported by the ICRC in rural Zimbabwe, the organization has drilled boreholes and equipped them with hand pumps or rehabilitated existing water sources to improve access to safe water for villagers, clinics and schools. The organization works at the grassroots level with the District Development Fund (DDF) in each of the three districts to ensure that these water and sanitation facilities are operational. The ICRC donates spare parts to the DDF as well as sharing the technical skills required to maintain hand pumps. In 2007, more than 300 hand pumps in rural Zimbabwe were repaired or rehabilitated with the support of the ICRC.
