The 17 December - the anniversary date of the assassination of six ICRC staff at Novye Atagi in Chechnya in 1996 - is now commemorated as the day on which we remember our colleagues and friends who died whilst fulfilling their ICRC mission, or who lost their lives to accidents, disease or other tragic events.This is a time for reflection and remembrance. At headquarters we meet at the 'Jardin du Souvenir' to light a candle and share a moment of silent thought or prayer. Many delegations have their own traditions to honour the memory of our colleagues. Let the memory of our dear colleagues live on in our hearts!
