Golan Heights: tears of happiness and sadness for Syrian bride

The wedding day is one of the happiest days in the life of any bride. But for Syrian women who choose to marry a Syrian man from the occupied Golan, the wedding is a mixture of happiness and sadness.

That is the case of Rania Al Miqi. She met the groom, Adnan Al Miqi, two years ago, and is eager to reunite with him in the occupied Golan. At the same time, she is leaving her family and friends behind in Syria without knowing when she will be able to see them again.

Rania and Adnan are finally together. Adnan greets her with flowers. For the members of the two families, the meeting at the ICRC office in the buffer zone is not only about the marriage of Rania and Adnan; it is also a rare opportunity to meet other family members and close relatives who have been separated since 1967.
