Description : At the backside: The surrender of Dachau concentration camp on 29 April 1945 to brigadier gneral Henning Linden, assistant commanding officer of the 42nd rainbow infantry division.
Pictured left to right: aide to lieutenant Wickert, the german officer surrendering the camp, who is partially hidden from view by his aide. Mr. Paul Levy, ab belgian journalist attached to the supreme headquarters of the american expeditionary forces, who accompanied general Linden to the camp. Mr. Levy is acting as the interpreter between Lt. Wickert and Gen. Linden. Next, is Dr. Victor Maurer, of the International Red Cross holding a broomstick to which is attached a white towel. To his right is brigadier general Linden. The soldiers are unidentified.
