Description :
The month of Ramadan is a holy period observed by Muslims all over the world. For this special occasion, the ICRC distributed food to 26 places of detention throughout Somalia. The ICRC staff ensured that in two weeks all the items can be delivered in hand to the detainees: 12,000 kg of powder milk, 18,000 kg of dates, 14,000 kg of biscuits and 600 goats.
Visits to places of detainees are a fundamental part of the work of the ICRC around the world. Detainees must receive humane and dignified treatment throughout their time in detention, and families must at all times be aware of the fate of their relatives and have the chance to be in contact and visit them.
