Le CICR a terminé, dimanche 24 décembre 2000, une importante opération de rapatriement de prisonniers de guerre éthiopiens et érythréens, en priorité des grands blessés et des malades. Commencé samedi 23 décembre, le transfert de 360 Ethiopiens et de 359 Erythréens s'est déroulé sans incident.
