Description : Press note 14/10/2005 : During a two-day visit to ICRC headquarters, Said Ismail Hakki, President of the Iraqi Red Crescent Society, Jamal N. Al-Karboli, Vice President, and Mazin A. Salloum, Secretary General, met several ICRC representatives. The talks focused on the humanitarian situation in Iraq and the cooperation between the IRCS and ICRC, in particular in the areas of emergency assistance, tracing activities and communication. Both sides emphasized the need to improve humanitarian access to the victims of the conflict.

The visit concluded with a meeting with ICRC President Jakob Kellenberger, who praised "the longstanding tradition of working with IRCS which can be strengthened further in order to enhance a long-term cooperation". IRCS President Said Hakki said he was eager to work with the ICRC and looking forward to partnership between IRCS and ICRC.
