To survive attacks by marauding militias, 170,000 Congolese have taken refuge on remote islands on Lake Upemba. In early May, the ICRC was finally able to get relief supplies to them. A report by Richard Werly that first appeared in the French language newspaper, Le Temps, on May 17 2006.
