L'action du CICR en faveur des invalides de guerre mozambicains, concrétisée depuis avril 1981 par l'activité du centre orthopédique de l'hôpital central de Maputo s'est poursuivie et développée en 1986. Plusieurs centaines de patients ont été appareillés avec des prothèses fabriquées et ajustées dans le centre à l'aide de matières premières disponibles sur le marché local.
