Description : 24-11-2010 News Release 10/216Dhaka (ICRC) –
"This is an important step which will allow us to continue to develop our activities in Bangladesh," said Christoph Vogt, who will head the new ICRC delegation in Dhaka. "Currently, our main activities in the country consist in promoting international humanitarian law, providing support for the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and restoring links between family members separated by natural disaster or migration."

The agreement signed at the foreign ministry headquarters in Dhaka formalizes and consolidates the extensive cooperation between Bangladesh and the ICRC that has been under way since 2006. It also grants the ICRC the benefits and immunities it needs for its action.

The ICRC currently has six international and 19 national staff working in Bangladesh.
