Description :
The training took place between the 16th and 17th June 2013.

Precision, quantity and quality of the data about the missing persons are crucial for restoring family links operations. Therefore, during the training, volunteers put into practice the theory and learn to fill in the standard form that supports the localisation of missing persons.

To know the fate of loved ones is one of the main preoccupations that arises following a natural disaster, during an armed conflict or in situations of forced immigration. After the earthquake of 27th February 2010 - which gave rise to an important joint work of the ICRC and Chilean RC to restore the links between separated family members - the ICRC strengthened the cooperation with the Chilean Red Cross, starting a new action plan aiming to enhance emergency and RFL response capability. To that end, 60 volunteers of the Chilean Red Cross have been trained during the last three years and three Chilean Red Cross Operational Centers have been created in the whole country. These centers have been equipped with rapid deployment material, such as satellite phone, laptop and RFL forms, with the intent of providing appropriate logistical support for rapid response to RFL situations.
