As usual at large sporting events, Red Cross first-aiders will be standing by at the 28th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations. Volunteers from the Equatorial Guinea and Gabonese Red Cross Societies will be ready when over 80,000 people gather to watch 368 players from 16 national teams play football. There will be a total of 32 matches in Bata, Malabo, Franceville and Libreville.
Since October 2011, the ICRC and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies have been helping to give first-aid training to Red Cross members in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. These volunteers are now ready for action in Malabo and Bata (Equatorial Guinea) and Libreville and Franceville (Gabon).
