Description : Facts and figures ICRC in South Sudan from the ICRC web
Since the crisis erupted in South Sudan on 15 December 2013 until the end of April 2014, the ICRC, with its main partner the South Sudan Red Cross, has:
*provided food for nearly 213,000 people in Lakes, Unity, Upper Nile, Warrap, Jonglei, Northern and Western Bahr el Ghazal,
Western Equatoria states and Juba;
*performed over 1,500 surgeries in eight local health facilities, and provided medical materials to 24 first-aid and other health-care
facilities;
*Provided clean water for nearly 96,000 people in displaced and other conflict-affected communities as well as in health and
detention facilities in various parts of the country;
*provided tents, cooking utensils and tarpaulins as emergency shelter for nearly 183,000 displaced people around the country;
*visited over 1,800 people held in various places of detention;
*arranged for more than 5,000 phone calls to be made from various camps to enable displaced people to contact family members;
*registered 43 children who had been separated from their families;
*delivered training or sessions on IHL to over 630 members of the armed forces, armed groups and other weapon bearers.
