Description :
The city of Bartellah is located in Al-Hamadaniyah District of Ninawa Governorate, of which Mosul is the capital. Al-Hamadaniyah lies to the northwest of Erbil Governorate (Iraqi Kurdistan Region) and Bartellah is about an hour’s drive from the city of Erbil. A great number of people who fled the conflict in Mosul have joined other family members, relatives or friends living in villages surrounding Mosul such as the village of Bartellah (about 20 kilometers northeast of Mosul) and the village of Bazkertan (12 kilometers northeast of Mosul). The area is inhabited mostly by Christian, Shabak, and Turkmen minorities. Today’s distribution is to Mukhtars (Aldermen) of Bartellah and its surrounding villages where tens of thousands of displaced people have taken shelter. In their turn, the Mukhtars, who have prepared lists of internally displaced families in their areas of responsibility in cooperation with the local authorities, distribute the assistance to the displaced people these villages are hosting.
