Description :
Kharniq, a city of 60,000 people, is hosting more than 90,000 displaced persons.
In cooperation with community leaders and city authorities, the ICRC is distributing humanitarian assistance to displaced families who took shelter in schools and other public places, and to those who are hosted by local families.
On August 12 2014, the ICRC distributed food to 6,000 people and enough relief items to cover the needs of 12,000 displaced persons. This distribution marks the beginning of a large ongoing effort to assist the displaced persons in this region.
