Description :
Built decades ago, the weir and surrounding irrigation channels fell into disrepair over time. The work, which will last approximately three months, involves cleaning the irrigation channels, and shoring up the supporting earthen walls. It will benefit some 42,000 people. Local communities are providing the workforce as part of an ICRC cash-for-work programme. They will also receive seeds and tools from the ICRC as part of a livelihood programme.
