Description : Hudur district hospital's operating room is ill-equipped to attend to major surguries. Most emergencies are reffered to Baidoa regional hospital located in a neighbouring region. Since Hudur district is besieged by different armed groups, the safest way to transfer patients is by flight which remains unaffordable for most. The ICRC supports the referral hospital in neighbouring Bay region, the Baidoa regional hospital. This covers the operation theatre, medical supplies, equipment, payment of staff salaries and staff training to ensure the service meets internationally accepted standards.
