Description : To mark the 26th anniversary of the American with disabilities act, a civil rights law that would inspire the world to promote equal opportunity and address discrimination faced by person of disabilities. The US embassy held the NBA-WNBA sports envoy event at olympic stadium in Phnom Penh on 15 July with Wayne Ellington, an NBA star and Sue Wicks, a former basketball player in the women’s national basketball association (WNBA), as special coaches for the event.
The basketball stars met with a number of local groups and held a basketball renovation project at Wat Koh high school before participating in the basketball exhibition match. The members of ICRC-supported women’s wheelchair basketball team from Kampong Speu and Battambang provinces were invited to join in the exhibition match. The match was broadcasted live via US embassy facebook.
