Caption :
Lunda Norte, Cacanda reception center. This woman fills in a Red Cross Message. Red Cross Messages are a written alternative to phone calls available to refugees in case they don’t have the phone number of their relatives or the telephone service fails to go through. Since she couldn’t reach her brother on two separate occasions and didn’t speak to her family for over six months, she is hopeful the Red Cross Message will initiate the long-lost contact.

Description :
Armed violence in the Kasai Region of the Democratic Republic of Congo over the past year has displaced thousands of families. Many of these Congolese families fled into the neighboring country and are now based in this center. The ICRC, also present in Kasai Region, will use the last known address of the relative to initiate the search to deliver Red Cross Messages.
