Description :
Zabadani area used to be a popular touristic spot for Syrians and foreigners. In addition to tourism, this area is known for its agricultural land and water resources. However, since the heavy fighting started in 2012, almost all the population (around 35,000 persons) fled the hostilities and sought refuge in safer areas. The town was heavily destroyed during the hostilities. Many have been displaced for more than five years without any income, and they have now started to return. The ICRC, in cooperation with the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, are helping some of the most vulnerable families to rehabilitate their houses. This includes installing water tanks, rehabilitating doors, walls and windows, bathrooms and kitchen facilities. A total of 86 households will receive this assistance from the rehabilitation project in Zabadani.
