Description : This young man has been living in Lebanon since 2014. He was in 9th grade when his education stopped. He remembers the exact date of his last day of school: 26 November 2011. He has chronic pain in his back and arm due to injuries he sustained during the war. He believes his chronic pain affects his mental wellbeing, and he sometimes feels hopeless. He cannot see a future for himself here in Lebanon or back in Syria. He believes his lack of education limits his career prospects. At school he was very good at maths and wanted to become a teacher or lecturer. Today, the young man works as a volunteer with the ICRC mental health team: "I was in a camp when a Red Cross staff member asked if I’d like to volunteer in the mental health support group. I agreed because I like to help people. Seeing people happy makes me happy; I felt relieved, it’s better than being alone. But due to COVID-19 everything now is online and it’s not the same."
